Mass Wasting

Egypt experiences annual flooding due to snow melting into the Nile River. Because Egypt experiences flooding yearly there was been an early warning system developed and managed as well as mapping of the land to determine safe areas and flood zones. Also emergency response plans were implemented in areas highly likely of experiencing a flood.
Along with flooding comes landslides. Landslides are downward movement of Earth's materials including soil and rock. Since Egypt is at greater risk for landslides there is more awareness and education programs to establish more awareness.

Although Egypt has a history of landslides there isn't much prevention and warning systems. With annual flooding comes landslides. I would think there would be more measures taken to alert the public and protect communities. however, there are programs in place to assist communities affected by landslides. Also there is limited alert systems in place to help with early detection.

Volcanoes in Egypt

There are no active volcanoes in Egypt, however, there is evidence of a volcanic eruption in the Mediterranean that covered ancient Egyptian settlements. Archeologist were able to uncovered historical cities, artwork and documents. It is theorized the volcano Santorini erupted and winds carried blizzards of ash to Egypt and the possibility of a tsunami as well (Morrison).

There is also a filed of volcanoes near Egypt in haruj, Libya. Spanning across 45,000 sq km there are approximately 150 active volcanoes (Volcanodiscovery).

Because Egypt does not have any active volcanos there are no real procedures or warning system in place. Although there is no immediate danger in Egypt there is all around. Thusly, there should be more education and awareness about volcanic activity around Egypt and safety protocols in place. Given the recent evidence of a massive eruption that once covered a great part of Egypt in ancient times, government officials should implement a warning system and evacuation procedure.
